Mary Ellen Shea, Senior Trainer, has worked with The Negotiation Skills Company since 1995. An experienced mediator, arbitrator, and trainer, Ms. Shea completed her studies at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. Ms. Shea did additional graduate studies at MIT, the University of Massachusetts Labor Institute, and is a graduate of Northeastern University.
Ms. Shea has worked as a mediator and an arbitrator in a wide range of complex disputes between two or more parties. She is best known for her skill in resolving apparently intractable labor disputes. She also serves as a facilitator and trainer to organizations seeking to change their negotiation, decision making, and communication skills. Mary Ellen served as adjunct faculty of Antioch College, has taught negotiation skills at Harvard University Graduate School of Education, the Harvard Trade Union Program, at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, as well as in the former Soviet Union.
Ms. Shea's past experience as an ombudsman and aide to former Massachusetts Governor Francis Sargent, a Personal Management Specialist, an adjudication and administrative appeals officer, as a national union official representing over 72,000 employees, and a state mediator for over twelve years contribute to her skills as a problem solver, mediator, and peacemaker.
Mary Ellen Shea enjoys the beauty of Western Massachusetts where she lives with her husband.
